Set up MFA and sign in with your code
MFA (multi-factor authentication) adds one step to signing in: a 6-digit code from an app on your phone. There are two parts. You set it up once. After that, you type a code every time you sign in.

- Your phonefor the authenticator app
- About 3 minutesyou set up only once
Watch it, step by step
Press play. Turn the sound on to have each step read to you, or use the arrows to go at your own pace.
The codes on these screens are examples. Yours will be different, and they change every 30 seconds.
Set it up
You do this once. Have your computer and your phone in front of you.
Get an authenticator app on your phone.
Google Authenticator and Microsoft Authenticator are both free, and either one works. Search for it in the App Store or Google Play, or use the links on this page. If you already use Authy, 1Password or another authenticator, use that.
On your computer, sign in to Booked55 and click Set up MFA.
If Booked55 did not ask you, open your profile, go to the Security tab and click Enable MFA. Booked55 asks how you want to get your codes: choose Authenticator app and click Continue.
Booked55 shows a QR code. Open the authenticator app, tap the plus, and choose Scan a QR code.
Your phone may ask to use the camera. Say yes.
Point your phone's camera at the QR code on your computer screen.
The app reads it on its own. Booked55 now appears in the app with a 6-digit code. The code changes every 30 seconds. That is normal.
Type the code showing now into Booked55 and click Verify & Enable.
If the code changes while you are typing, type the new one.
Click Download Backup Codes and keep the file somewhere safe.
A backup code gets you in if you ever lose your phone. Each one works once.
Click I've Saved My Codes - Complete Setup.
Booked55 signs you out. That is expected. Sign in again, this time with a code.
Sign in with your code
From now on, this is how you sign in: on the website and in the phone app.
Sign in the way you always do.
Your email and password, Sign in with Google, or Sign in with Microsoft.
Booked55 asks for a 6-digit code.
The screen says Two-Factor Authentication.
Open the authenticator app on your phone.
The code is next to Booked55. You do not scan anything again: that was only for setting up.
Type the code and click Verify.
You are in.
The same code works everywhere
The website, the iPhone app and the Android app all ask for the code, and it always comes from the one authenticator app you set up. You never scan the QR code again.

Both are free. Pick one and install it on your phone. You only need one.

Common questions
- Do I need a code every time I sign in?
- Yes. Every sign-in asks for a code: on the website, and in the Booked55 app on iPhone and Android. It does not matter whether you sign in with a password, Google or Microsoft. The code always comes the way you chose when you set up: from the authenticator app on your phone, by text message, or by email.
- I do not have an authenticator app. Can I get the code another way?
- Yes. When Booked55 asks you to choose how to get your codes, pick Text message or Email and click Continue. For a text message, type your mobile number with its country code, for example +1 416 555 0123, and click Text me a code. For email, click Email me a code, and Booked55 sends it to your account's own email address. Type the 6-digit code, click Verify & Enable, and save your backup codes. From then on Booked55 sends you a code each time you sign in. An authenticator app is the safest of the three, so it is offered first.
- The code keeps changing. Is something wrong?
- No. The app makes a new code every 30 seconds, and an old one stops working. Type the code that is showing right now. If it changes while you are typing, type the new one.
- Booked55 says my code is wrong.
- Check that you are reading the code next to Booked55, not another account in the app, and type the one showing now. If it still fails, make sure your phone sets its date and time automatically: the codes depend on the clock. After several wrong codes in a row Booked55 makes you wait a few minutes before trying again.
- Do I scan the QR code every time?
- No. You scan it once, when you set up. After that you only open the authenticator app and read the code.
- I do not have my phone with me.
- On the screen that asks for the code, click Use a backup code and type one of the codes from the file you downloaded when you set up. Each backup code works once.
- I have a new phone.
- If you still have the old phone, sign in, open your profile, go to the Security tab and click Disable MFA (it asks for a code from the old phone). Then click Enable MFA and scan the new QR code with the new phone. Many authenticator apps can also move your accounts to a new phone for you. If the old phone is gone, sign in with a backup code and contact us so we can help you move.
- My codes come by text message and my mobile number changed.
- If you still get texts on the old number, sign in, open your profile, go to the Security tab and click Disable MFA. Click Send me a code and type the code Booked55 texts you. Then click Enable MFA and set up again with the new number. If the old number is gone, sign in with a backup code and contact us so we can help you move.
- I only have a phone, no computer.
- You can set up in the Booked55 app: open the Profile tab, find Security and tap Enable MFA. A phone cannot scan its own screen, so copy the key shown under the QR code, and in the authenticator app choose Enter a setup key and paste it.
- Who has to turn MFA on?
- Booked55 requires it for managers, operators and owners who have a team. Anyone else, including everyone in an event organizer's organization, can turn it on from their profile, under Security.
